Switch out the sound trigger board

Description

Plan for switching out the sparkfun sound trigger board to something else.

Motivation

As discussed in the discord: Users are wiring up a potentiometer to be able to adjust the sensitivity on the fly when using the LM in different environemnts.

What would be better if we could set this sensitivity from the pi via the software to be able to tune it - store presets via the display.

It would be nice if we could remove this required solder step to fix the logic level sticking by soldering some resistors to it and at the same time - one would not need to use the soldering iron or buy resistors etc.

So finding some sound trigger which is on the same logic level to not needing it would be great.

One other hurdle for me is that is harder for me in Sweden(EU) to get ahold of the Sparkfun sensor too, I can´t source it from mourser which would hold all other parts. But thats just a tangent.

In the best of worlds the sound trigger board is not needed at all if Omniprecense can make a way to update the OPS radar without needing their third party hardware. #221 (comment)

You can use a SEGGER debugger with Infineon's official software to update the board using the hex files provided by OmniPreSense, but the process is a little involved. It's worth it, in my opinion, to get rid of the sound trigger. I don't think they have plans to release an easier USB flashing method.

I’m all for getting rid of the and maybe elimate soldering for the ones who doesn’t want to hold a soldering iron or doesn’t have one.

I see! So it’s a hardware limit, got it! So we need to attach on the specific lines to the MCU, just to make this more approachable by the average joe - could we possible use the rpi itself? Like Pi GPIO bit-bang SWD via OpenOCD?

Do we have any hardware specifics on the the J2 interface? Like pitch and pin count to find a cable for it? Will search the documentation if there are some if someone haven’t already found it?
