Hi TIDAL Developer Team,
I'm writing to request an Application Review and API access approval for Wakey (previously Spotialarm), an Android alarm clock application.
Application Details:
Background:
SpotiAlarm has been live since 2021. Until January 2026, it used the Napster API as its music source. Following Napster's abrupt shutdown of its music streaming service and catalog in January 2026 (after its acquisition by Infinite Reality), we lost our music provider and are migrating to TIDAL.
You can find the existing application in Google Play.
Requested Scopes & Use Case:
Catalog Search: so users can search TIDAL's catalog and choose a specific track to assign to their alarm during setup.
30-Second Preview Playback: the alarm plays a 30-second preview of the user's chosen track when it fires.
Why this requires your review:
We understand from your Developer Guidelines that alarm, alert, or ringtone functionality requires TIDAL's express written approval, and we're requesting that approval here rather than assuming it.
To give you the full picture of how this differs from a typical background alarm/ringtone use: SpotiAlarm requires the user to complete a wake-up task (a math problem, memory sequence, shake gesture, etc.) before the alarm can be dismissed. The 30-second preview loops during this active task, not as a passive background loop. The core product mechanic is built around this forced-engagement wake-up flow, with TIDAL music as the trigger the user actively interacts with, rather than a static ringtone sound.
You can find the video recording demonstrating the flow here.
We're happy to provide any additional detail, screenshots, source code to support this review.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
