DNS Profile Will Not Work After Connecting To VPN

After connecting to VPN then disconnect, DNS profile will not work until system restart. This happens in both Mac & iOS.

yeah you should report this to apple, it's unfortunate

I think its OK as VPN providers have own DNS servers which should you use!
If you don't trust your VPN provider just find a new one!

Doesn't work for me too, but only on Mac. On IOS everything is fine.

Did anyone create a ticket for that on Apple support to follow?

@paulmillr Since it's not a bug in .mobileconfig file I ask this issue be closed.
We cannot fix it only apple can so I vote to close it but it's up to you.

I tested it just now, and it still doesn't work in iOS 17.6.1.

How did you guys know for sure that the profile didn't take effect? ​​I'd like to try testing it on the latest iOS, but I don't know what the expected effect would be.

If connected to a VPN iOS / macOS is using the DNS of the VPN.

Workaround would be to use a DNS Crypt Proxy like Little Snitch and or other tools.
