.ls command produces no output

The .ls command is intended to list the contents of the on-device filesystem, but it produces no output. The "Mpy Remote Workspace" does correctly show the files, as does entering the uos.listdir() command manually.

Steps to reproduce

1. Connect Pico 2 W to host, vREPL terminal opens and shows welcome message
2. Enter .ls in the vREPL terminal

What happens?

No output.

What were you expecting to happen?

Listing of files on the device.

Any logs, error output, etc?

MicroPython v1.27.0 on 2025-12-09; Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W with RP2350
Type "help()" for more information or .help for custom vREPL commands.

Repeating the command does not help. It always produces no output, even after manually issuing the import uos command.

.ls is no MicroPython command nor function as far as I'm aware.

Why do you think this should work on the repl?

It is a "virtual" command provided by the vREPL of the MircoPico terminal, that sits between the user and the real underlying REPL of the Pico. You can see this command listed if you type .help at the vREPL prompt.
