FW 12.40: remote operations not working (PKG installs, folder uploads and connection losses etc...) and some feature suggestions

I'm experiencing these weird issues lately on FW 12.40:

When I upload a PKG I can't install it automatically, the app does its thing, but then says that it failed to install
When I transfer an .exfat, ffpkg file, or a big folder, the speed drops until it says upload failed. I have to go to connection, re-send the helper, and then retry (most of the time from the start)
Often, I find my app disconnected from the console while I use it to monitor the temperature and fan speed.
Payloads get downloaded and sent, but not always executed on the console.

That said, the app is great, very intuitive and handy, I just wish it had a couple of useful features:

a web-based interface
a way to permanently set the fan speed every time the payload launches instead of doing it manually with the app (so it can be put in the payload manager autorun and not worry about it anymore)
a way to add, modify, and activate the user ID for the local accounts (like Offact+NP Fake sign in) so we can have everything in one place without having to rely on other applications that are very prone to cause kernel panics

Thanks for the detailed report — several of these are being worked on, and one has a fix in flight that's directly relevant to your FW 12.40 setup.

PKG install fails after upload (FW 12.40): this is the one I most want you to help confirm. On FW 11/12 the PS5's in-app installer turns an update away on the first try (0x80b21106, an authid gate) — that's expected, and the tool is supposed to fall through to the DPI daemon that actually lands it. Two problems were found:

1. The engine was deleting the staged package the instant that first attempt was rejected, so the fallback had nothing to install — fixed in 3.3.23.
2. A payload-side crash: right after that rejection, the on-console helper could go unreachable (matches your "payloads get sent but not always executed" + connection-loss symptoms). Root cause looks like the install's ShellUI fallback path mishandling a failed memory-map inside SceShellUI — dereferencing an error code as a pointer, which crashes ShellUI and cascades into the helper. A fix for this is staged (hardening three ptrace primitives so a failed remote mmap/syscall can't corrupt or crash ShellUI). It builds clean but I can't reproduce FW 12.40 in-house — so if you can grab a fresh bug bundle (Bug Report page) after the next release when installing an update, the on-PS5 payload logs are exactly what confirms it.

Upload speed dropping on .exfat/.ffpkg then failing: also being chased. The Installed-Apps and Library screens poll the console every few seconds, which on a big multi-part game shares a channel with the transfer and can drag speed down; those polls now pause while an upload to that console runs (3.3.23). If you saw the slowdown with those screens open, the next release should help — confirmation on your hardware would be great.

Feature: web-based interface — done, shipping next release (#171): the engine can serve the full UI to a browser (self-hosted / Docker). See #151.

Feature: persistent fan speed on every payload launch — good idea, tracked. The fan threshold is set live today; making it auto-apply on payload start (so it survives into an autoloader setup) is a payload-side addition. Leaving this open for that.

Keeping this open until the install + speed fixes are confirmed on your FW 12.40 console.

Progress on several of these, merged in #181:

PKG installs failing / helper going unreachable: the root cause was found and fixed — the install-fallback daemon was calling Sony's installer without initializing it first, which wedged the console's install service and killed the helper a few seconds later. It now initializes properly with a boot-timing wait + retry. Hardware-verified on FW 9.60 + 5.10 (the helper survives a rejected install now). Your console is FW 12.40, which is above the FW-11 line where Sony adds an extra credential gate — so there's a chance the daemon needs one more escalation step on 12.x that isn't in yet (tracked as a follow-up). But the core "helper dies" mechanism is fixed; please try the next release.

"App disconnected while monitoring temp/fan": added a transfer-port liveness probe that detects and logs the exact wedge state where the console's management channel is up but the transfer listener died — so the next bug bundle will show it clearly. It's a read-only diagnostic for now (doesn't auto-reconnect), which tells us whether this is the same helper-crash or a separate network drop.

Web UI (your feature request): already shipped — the engine serves the full app to a browser (#171), so you can manage the PS5 from any browser on your LAN without the desktop app.

Persistent fan speed + NP fake sign-in (your other requests): noted as real follow-ups in the internal fix plan — both are feasible (the reference tooling does them) but they're separate features that need their own hardware validation, so they're not in this round.

Leaving open — please grab a fresh bug bundle on the next release if installs/disconnects still happen on 12.40.
