HTTPProgress: Connecting to files.pharo.org for 18 hours without doing anything

I started Pharo Launcher v3.4.3 about 22 hours ago and it continues to claim it is progressing in connecting to files.pharo.org
There is nothing to tell me what it is trying to get, whether it got anything.
There also appears to be no way to tell it to stop.

To Reproduce
Not readily reproducible. My earlier attempt to start Pharo Launcher took some time to connect, but eventually reported progress up to 98%. It stopped progressing at that point and I killed the process. I restarted Pharo Launcher and the above description is all I see.

Expected behavior
The progress box eventually displays some progress and finishes in a reasonable amount of time.

Thank you for the report.
It is indeed a problem I can see from time to time. Can you discard the progress box by using the ESC key or by clicking outside the progress box?
I'm now focused to get the new Pharo Launcher out (it uses Gtk) but I will have a look if I can find some time for this issue.

Unfortunately, before I could try your suggestions, that particular computer locked and needed to be rebooted. However, I just back to trying P.L. again and see the same thing again, specifically the progress bar not actually showing any progress.

I was poking around, after having clicked somewhere which popped up a World menu. Eventually, I clicked beside the delete icon and it popped up again. The "Untitled Window" seems to correspond to the progress bar. Right clicking on that menu item offers no suggestions.

Pressing the ESC key had no effect.
I can hide the progress bar by clicking on the Morph item. I don't think that means the task responsible for the progress bar has finished or otherwise stopped.

Clicking outside the progress bar didn't work and now it is hidden and the World Menu isn't coming up. None of the items across the top portion of the window operate.

I switched back to the shell from which I launched Pharo Launcher and saw the following text below my command line to start it. Stack dump? Perhaps it is useful to you.

Restarting P.L. showed my a similar window saying that it was Downloading .... sources.list
Perhaps this means it succeeded with the HTTP connection, however, it is still "Processing" and showing no sign of progress.
This particular dialogue leaves the other window elements alive. So, I could select the image I want to the Launch green arrow button became enabled. It curious that clicking on that Launch button did coincide with progress.

The command line shell showed activity associated with unzipping the 13.0 VM.
