DualSense controller doesn't work

The controller is recognised by Bit:

But no input is registered in the games. On the other hand, my Xbox One S controller works fine. Same issue with the original OpenEmuARM64.

Also, it's a purely cosmetic issue, but the button setup section looks a little messy, especially when scrolling.

This section is going to be reworked in general. I just haven't had the time to and decided to leave it functional before modifying it. I will take a look at whats causing dual sense not to work.

I haven't been able to reproduce this issue with my dual sense. Have you tried forgetting and reconnecting the controller on Mac OS?

I've tried forgetting and reconnecting, no go. It doesn't work in the original OpenEmu either. I have the same issue with vAmiga and VirtualC64 – it works fine everywhere else, though: RetroArch, AetherSX2, Steam, even DevilutionX.

Do you have a specific dual sense model number or name? It could be possible that the different versions have caused incompatibility. Do you have like a dual sense edge?

It's a CFI-ZCT1W, the first-gen model, apparently.

Another oddity: my PS4 DualShock doesn't work either with the same symptoms.

Try seeing if you can use it in the original openemu. Also what version of mac os are you running and what computer?

No go with the original OpenEmu. The DualSense works fine when I connect it via USB using the Magic-NS stick and reconfigure the buttons manually. My Mac is an M3 Macbook Air running Tahoe 26.3.1(a).

And you are saying you have this issue both through the dual sense and DualShock 4. Go to Game Controllers in system settings and play around with some of the settings. Maybe there is a mapping issue on your computer.

I've set up a new test user account, and my DualSense works fine there. Something's messed up on my side, and I have no idea what it is. Closing this, since there's nothing really you can do on your end.

I am reopening this issue because I finally came across it. It seems certain cores in openemu somehow poison controller support. I am working on a fix. This is actually an issue on all versions of openemu.

Try closing bit and entering this command in terminal. Let me know if this fixes dual sense and Dualshock.

No, that didn't fix the issue – but I figured out what was causing the problem. As ridiculous as it might seem, changing the LED colours on a DualSense causes Bit (and a few other applications) to stop registering its input, even though the controller is detected. The fix is to wipe the controller settings and leave the LED colour as 'unset'.
