First, thank you very much for creating such an incredible piece of software. I have a few questions about its usage, and I'm unsure where to ask them—please feel free to close this issue if it's not the appropriate place.

I am using astrometry.net to solve 10-degree-wide images of starfields, and I noticed that your code utilizes it as well. Is it possible to use your software solely for plate solving?

Additionally, I appreciate the extremely useful statistics and insightful plots you have generated as part of the solving process, so I would like to use it.

Hi, Thanks very much for your flattering message/issue. Regarding your questions: I would not use zogy for just doing the astrometry. Zogy first runs Source Extractor separately, followed by Astrometry.net <http://astrometry.net/> to do the astrometry. You can configure astrometry.net <http://astrometry.net/> to run Source Extractor instead of its own source detection algorithm, so astrometry.net <http://astrometry.net/> is really all you need. If you like the diagnostic plots, why don’t you write your own python module that calls astrometry.net <http://astrometry.net/> and copy and paste whatever it is that you like from zogy.py into it? See the function zogy.run_wcs(), which would be a good starting point. And once you have that, you can easily adapt it to your own taste/needs. cheers, Paul
