              <p>Redbird Robotics's Goal is to bring together multiple engineering disciplines to provide practical, real world experience for students through competitive robotic design and creation.
                Currently, we are working on an entry for the <a href="http://www.aerialroboticscompetition.org/"> International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC) Mission 9 </a> </p>
              <p><br/>Team members participate in all aspects of robotic design from concept design and manufacturing to programming. Our team is a diverse collection of Computer, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering students looking to apply the knowledge they learn in the classroom. </p>

            <h2>Our Current Mission</h2>
            <p>
              This year, Redbird Robotics is striving to compete in the International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC). Since 1991, the AUVSI Foundation has used IARC to challenge students across the
              world to push the envelope in the field of aerial robotics—requiring students to create fully autonomous aerial vehicles to tackle challenges and problems that would be considered impossible
              by leaders in industry in each given year. The 2019-2020 competition year will introduce contestants to IARC’s new Mission 9: Fly an aerial robot over 3 kilometers to a moving boat’s mast,
              remove and replace a "communications module" attached to the boat’s mast, and then return to the starting position. The mission must be accomplished in under 9 minutes, which poses a unique
              challenge to the team. Our members are experienced in designing and using autonomous quadcopter vehicles, but to create an aircraft capable of meeting the time limit requirement, the team will
              need to research traditional airplane designs and gain an enhanced understanding of aerodynamics. </p>

              For this mission, Redbird Robotics will be investigating rapid prototyping of aerial designs, robotic manipulation of objects with different inertial frames of reference than the aerial
              platform (our robot), and advanced computer vision capabilities. We currently plan to use a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) design to take advantage of its high speeds and ability to
              hover while performing Mission 9 tasks that require precision and dexterity. To learn more about our current designs, please check out the <a href="projects.html">Projects page</a>.
