MiddleTouch randomly shuts down

Since updating to 1.11 yesterday, MiddleTouch randomly shuts down by itself, I have to click on the app to restart it. I'm on Sequoia 15.7.5

Thanks for reporting. Is there a crash report for MiddleTouch in the Console app? If so, can you send it to me?

I looked at crash reports transmitted through Apple's reporting, and those were pointing toward a sandbox issue that can sometimes happen where accessibility permissions from the previous install don't get cleared out on update.

To fix that specific scenario, try the following Terminal commands:

killall MiddleTouch
tccutil reset All com.knollsoft.MiddleTouch
open -a MiddleTouch

You'll have to re-add the accessibility permissions as prompted.

If that isn't the issue, then I'll likely need a crash report to figure out what's going on.

I tried and it did't change anything, I noticed that the crashes happen when the system wakes up.

MiddleTouch will relaunch itself on wake, so it sounds like it is successful in closing itself but not in relaunching. If there is no crash report in the Console app and this is happening only on wake, then this would be the issue.

Nothing in MiddleTouch has changed that would cause this, so it could be that something in macOS isn't quite matching up. It could be fixed by deleting the app and installing it again from the App Store.

If that doesn't work, there are a couple more things we can try. First, you can try using a different mechanism for the relaunch functionality with this Terminal command:

defaults write com.knollsoft.MiddleTouch helperRelaunch -int 3

Then restart the app.

If that still doesn't fix the issue then we could try turning off the relaunch (without the relaunch it's possible that the touch data wouldn't get passed on to MiddleTouch, but it's probably OK without it):

defaults write com.knollsoft.MiddleTouch autoRestartOnWake -int 2

Then restart the app.

FYI - I was also seeing this same issue after upgrading to 1.11 and this command, so far, seems to have also resolved it for me. I'm also on Sequoia 15.7.5.
