Only four-finger taps work

For several versions now I've tried setting any/all of the different options available for middle click and none have ever worked for me except for four-finger tap. I've tried disabling the OS-related settings for taps but that didn't make a difference. The Fn+Left-click does also work, but none of the other options within the dropdown do. I'm running Sequoia 15.7.5.

I've tried the steps from #62 but after opening and closing the viewer, I don't see the private framework option in the debug menu. I can also confirm that the viewer never shows 3 fingers being touched but shows 1, 2 and 4 fine.

Do you have BetterTouchTool running? Since the viewer isn't showing three touches, that means that the app simply isn't receiving them. I've only seen this before with BetterTouchTool running, as it will prevent touches from propagating to the rest of the system when there are three touches present. If it's not BetterTouchTool, perhaps you have another tool that is doing this?

No, its possible I had that on a previous machine and tested it before migrating my data to this new macbook but its not installed and i dont see it in ps -fA. I have linearMouse installed but quitting it doesn't change anything - its used in place of LogiOptions+ for my mouse. Its strange that the viewer shows any/all touchpad movements just fine EXCEPT for 3 fingers. All the circles in the viewer stop moving altogether, but stay showing when i add a third finger and try moving around.

Interesting. The viewer is showing pretty much the raw data that the app is receiving, so unfortunately there isn't a change that can be made from within the app to start processing the events for three touches since it's not receiving them. On the plus side, we should be able to narrow down something external that would be causing this. I'm thinking it would be unlikely that a macOS setting would cause this, but it might be worth toggling off any non-default settings you have? Otherwise we're back to looking for which 3rd party app - do you have any others with accessibility permissions?

You could try installing Middle, rather than MiddleTouch, so that you can enable the private framework usage (this is unavailable in MiddleTouch since that's on the App Store). If you do end up with the private framework working in Middle, I don't mind providing a license if you've purchased MiddleTouch.

I have a few, linearmouse and vmware fusion. I removed permissions from them and restarted middletouch but no change. Three finger gestures for the OS work fine, btw. I tried changing those to 4 fingers instead but still same issue.

Middle shows the same thing unless I enable private framework - then it shows three in the viewer and three finger taps work.

Is the main difference between the two apps that Middle supports magic mouse, also? I did purchase middletouch from the appstore.

Yes, the main difference is that Middle additionally supports the Magic Mouse. From the current perspective I have, there isn't a change within MiddleTouch that I could make to fix this. If you send me an email directly showing the MiddleTouch purchase I'll send you a Middle license.
