Why is it still in alpha ?

I was looking at this project and couldn't stop wondering: why after almost 10 years this project is still in alpha version? I would like to use it but will it ever be considered "stable"? Or at least in beta?

But I'm just wondering if there is something really blocking or if it is yet another "it could be better before we release it" endless thing? I mean, even talos, which is using this project, is considered stable and is >1.x.y. So I really don't understand the point of keeping it in 0.1.0-alpha.x for so many years? Is there really a fundamental issue that cannot be overcome that prevent the v0.1.0 stable to be released?

Even 0ver (which I actually use sometimes) is presented by its author as "a satire", so being in alpha for 10 year while using 0ver seems very odd to me.

To be clear: I'm not complaining like "oh, why this project doesn't move faster?", it is not my point. My complain is more about "why if this project is used in production and developed for almost 10 years it is still released as v0.1.0-alpha.x?".

conform is a tool developed internally, and we use it internally. It is published as open-source, but we don't have any resources to make it better than we need it to be.

If you'd like to contribute to it - please do, you can also fork it and do whatever makes sense for you.

Ok I see. But I feel it still doesn't really make sense to "not use semantic versioning", especially when this tool helps ensuring commits are written following the conventional commit spec. I mean, technically, v0.1.0-alpha.x parses as a semantic version. However, giving that the only changing number is the alpha number (x), it looks more like sequential versioning.

I would be fine if the version was v0.1.0, no need for v1.0.0 if nobody really have time to maintain it. And as the chapter 6. Disclaimer of Warranty of the licence says, "Covered Software is provided [...] without warranty of any kind", already making clear that even if the source code is open, it doesn't come with any warranty of any kind.

Actually I would be even kind of okay if the project was using real sequential versioning, it would just need to drop the v0.1.0-alpha. prefix which is kinda useless currently since it doesn't bring any semantic value IMHO.

Thanks for your answers btw, and sorry for the kinda harsh question, I was in a middle of several things and didn't think too much about the form of my first message. I know maintaining open-source project can be tough, especially when people don't even say "hello" before asking a question.
