undefined symbol: XPGetWidgetUnderlyingWindow

I am seeing the following error in out.txt:

dlerror: /media/X-Plane/X-Plane 11/Resources/plugins/XPLM_64.so: undefined symbol: XPGetWidgetUnderlyingWindow

The error only appears when the xchecklist v1.41 plugin is installed , both in vulkan and OpenGL. This is important because a visible xchecklist window significantly reduces framerate (~20 fps) when using vulkan. There is no apparent difference when using OpenGL.

I experience this with the x-plane.org downloadable and a successful build from source.

I build on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and I am not seeing this. This is the first time I have heard of this and the current version is not new so not sure what is making your system different. Without you attaching your Log.txt file I can't help.

Here are log.txt and out.txt for OpenGL:

And for vulkan:

out.txt

Only out.txt displays the error.

Four things.

who is creating the out.txt file because I do not have that.

Your Log.txt seems to stop and I do not see a X-Plane shutdown.

Can you provide the clist.txt you are trying.

It might be a good idea to try a clean install with only Xchecklist installed.

There's nothing of interest to gather from those files, only the error in out.txt and the reduced framerate when using vulkan and xchecklist together. It happens in all of my aircraft. Considering that you develop using 20.04 and my build exhibits the same issues as the .org download, this seems a pointless exercise. If the problem persists upon Xp12's release, I'll circle back.

concerning the first issue (missing symbol) - do you happen to share the plugins directory between different X-Plane versions?
If not, can you open a terminal, go to the plugins directory and run the following command:

nm XPWidgets_64.so | grep XPGetWidgetUnderlyingWindow

In X-Plane 11 I get this output:

000000000003b920 T XPGetWidgetUnderlyingWindow

Which means the symbol is there... As this library should be loaded by the X-Plane automatically, the symbol should be there.
Other than shared plugins directory, some LD_PRELOAD or LD_LIBRARY_PATH might cause problems - do you happen to have either of them set when you start X-Plane?

As for the second issue (low framerate), well investigate that; just to have the full picture - do you use the older widget style, or the new OpenGL style window?

I only have one XP installation, so no plugins folder sharing.
When I run the command you posted above, I get the same result as you:
000000000003b920 T XPGetWidgetUnderlyingWindow
LD_PRELOAD and/or LD_LIBRARY_PATH aren't set on my system.
I use the newer GL style transparent window.
