Format of proof to pass into the function

I'm trying to pass in the proof returned from the gettxoutproof and the length appears to be incorrect. It's failing on the "not an even number of hashes" check. Do you have any recommendations on how to parse the output from gettxoutproof? Any help would be much appreciated!
