USB-Cs cant output 4k@60 signal

The system connects to the external screen and show the information it should be outputing, but the screens remains with no signal. Changing to 1080p fixes the problem immediately.

• This is probably also a video patching issue, which i was already working to try to fix Sidecar. (I hope both problems have the same culprit!)

Did some research and discovered that i was kinda wrong. This probably is a DVMT problem which can only be fixed by modding the BIOS. I will still look into it but im almost 100% sure thats the problem.

Modding the BIOS should be pretty straightforward, https://github.com/digmorepaka/thinkpad-firmware-patches/blob/master/xx70_xx80_patches_v7.txt should work just fine

yea actually I want to modify it before saying that it will work. I just don't have the money to buy a programmer rn and no one on college seems to have a bios programmer so im kinda screwed. My setup is with a single external 1080p that I use via a USB-C dock so im not rlly worried about it. Just want everything to work, tho, im really missing sidecar and im not sure if this could also be the issue...

lmao I know I just super broken (college student) + here on brazil this costs like 50 reais which isn't a lot but its not cheap as 2 bucks too. Thanks for showing this, I will definitely look into it! Principally cause it's mentioned about 4k via vanilla bios which is probably what most are interested in. Although, as mentioned, 4k@60 works super fine via HDMI! The problem here is DisplayPort via the USB-C. Thx a lot ;3

Looks like he said HDMI/Displayport so it might work for him, you might want to experiment with his method a little bit, maybe it would work for you
