History files coming out as .nc.nc

@wrongkindofdoctor did you test out the fix for #2 ? I want to merge that in before I fix this because it is in the same subroutine.

@uramirez8707 I just looked at this again more carefully and found an error in the code. Can you pull the fix I just pushed and try again. If this doesn't work, then send me the test case.
