Proposal: Korean translation and annotated edition of “The Story of Mel” #367

Description

@windshock

Hello,

I would like to contribute a Korean translation of "The Story of Mel" with technical annotations for Korean readers.

The goal is not only to translate the text, but also to explain historical and technical context that may be unfamiliar to modern Korean readers, such as:

  • drum memory
  • one-plus-one addressing
  • self-modifying code
  • the RPC-4000 and LGP-30
  • sense switches
  • the “testless loop” mechanism
  • the meaning of the story in hacker folklore

I would like to ask:

  1. Are Korean translations welcome in the Mel’s Loop project?
  2. Is there a preferred structure for adding a new language or localized annotated edition?
  3. Are there any copyright or permission requirements I should follow before submitting a full Korean translation of Ed Nather’s original text?
  4. Would you prefer a smaller initial PR first, for example a Korean locale skeleton and a sample translated section?

Thank you for maintaining this important piece of hacker folklore.
