No values in Home Assistent in Variant A

Hi hm2mqtt community,

let me first thank you, especialy @tomquist for that great project!

My Setup

• Variant: A (w/o optional hame relay)
• Device: HMJ-2 ("version":"113.8","uboot_version":"107", with local MQTT setup)
• mosquito: running on Docker
• Home Assistent: running on Docker (2026.3.1)
• hm2mqtt: Build commit: f04bec9
  running on Docker

My Problem

I do not see any values in HA. The new device has been discovered, but all values are unknown. But the firmware version and the BT Mac is shown.

My Investigation so far

Sorry I'm pretty new to Home Assistant. May be this is a no-brainer

• message from the HMJ-2 published to the broker, once per minute: So I see all my little values published by the HMJ-2 and transformed by hm2mqtt, if I get it right.

What could be the next step to investigate? Please help!

I found the solution: For some reasons (most probably I set it up differently at the beginning) there were discovery messages for HMA-2 in MQTT that set up the device in HA. But my device is a newer generation (HMJ-2). The discovery message for that device (also published via MQTT) was not used by HA. So I just had to delete my not working device in HA, after short time, the correct one appeared, referring to the right data.
It works now.

Thanks for posting your solution. This exact issue is fixed in the upcoming version where hm2mqtt only created the device in home assistant discovery when the device actually responded with data.
