Screen never wakes after BLEUnlock-triggered screen-off #169

Device & System

  • Device: Mac mini (Apple Silicon)
  • macOS: 26.1(Tahoe)
  • External monitor: LG 4K (USB-C → DP)

When I walk away with my iPhone / Apple Watch and BLEUnlock locks the Mac, I tested two different post-lock behaviors:

  1. If BLEUnlock is set to activate a screensaver → the display wakes normally.
  2. If BLEUnlock is set to turn the display off (screen-off) → the display NEVER wakes.

The second case is 100% reproducible.

This is not macOS idle sleep.
It only happens when BLEUnlock performs the lock → screen-off sequence triggered by distance.

Steps to reproduce

  1. In BLEUnlock, configure “lock when leaving” → screen-off (not screensaver).
  2. Use the Mac normally.
  3. Walk away with iPhone / Apple Watch.
  4. BLEUnlock detects distance → locks the Mac → turns the display off.
  5. Return to the Mac.
  6. The external display stays off and never wakes.

Note: If the post-lock action is “screensaver”, waking works normally.

Expected behavior

The display should wake normally after returning, just like it does when the screensaver is used.

Actual behavior

The display remains completely off and cannot be woken.
