Describe the Bug

The “Going to sleep” message remains visible on the screensaver when using the overlay sleep screen.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Configure the sleep wallpaper to "Page Overlay".
2. Open a book.
3. Press the device button to put it to sleep.
4. Observe the screensaver while sleeping.

Expected Behavior

Actual behavior:
The “Going to sleep” message remains visible on the screensaver/sleep.

Expected behavior:
The “Going to sleep” message should disappear before the screensaver of sleeping is displayed.

I'm not able to reproduce this with my long-press sleep on power button. Do you have your sleep as a different shortcut? a quick action? Trying to figure out why there is a race condition here.

Yes, I have the sleep configured using one shoirt press on the top right power button

Does this happen with every image? Is this a bmp or png? I can't reproduce this with either png or bmp with the short press power either.

all bmps, I have no pngs. I tried the long press configuration, and it's happening with it as well

I noticed that even with non-overlay there seems to be a missing refresh, check the attached image when the wallpaper is set to custom, the text behind is still partially visible, as if there's a missing refresh which could have cleaned this ghosting

Some level of ghosting is inevitable on e-ink. We'll never be able to get rid of it completely just based on the technology behind it and this being a cheap e-ink display.

The real issue here is your overlay/"going to sleep" message overlapping. Probably some timing issue where the overlay is getting applied before the message has time to clear

Why it's not happening on X3 or X4 with this level of ghosting. I believe there's a missing refresh, maybe a race condition between refresh and sleep

X3/X4/X4 Pro all use different displays, different drivers. The X3 itself has 3 different displays, the X4 Pro also has 3 different displays. Been a pain to deal with. So yeah, comparing one screen to another isn't apples to apples, they're using different panels. Clarity on the X4 Pro will also be reduced because of the frontlight panel adding a layer on top of the e-ink.
