SOCK_STREAM vs SOCK_SEQPACKET

Is there any reason to use SOCK_STREAM instead of the better suited SOCK_SEQPACKET for the AF_LOCAL connection to qemu?

QEMU's chardev uses SOCK_STREAM, and it doesn't seem there is a significant benefit into adding another implementation. Is there something that SOCK_STREAM won't allow us to do?
