TV shows "app not compatible, please update" #11

Description

@nickimola

Summary

Setup never reaches the PIN step on a Hisense VIDAA TV. The MQTT login itself is refused with CONNACK 5, and all
four credential schemes are tried and rejected. At the same time the TV displays an on-screen message saying the app is no longer compatible and must be updated.

The official VIDAA mobile app controls this TV without any problem.

Environment

ha_vidaatv 2.3.1
pyvidaa 2.3.0
Home Assistant 2026.7.2 (Docker, network_mode: host)
TV firmware v0007.09.09h.p0930 (latest available, no pending update)
detect_protocol() 3290
Certificates RemoteNOW client cert/key at /config/certs/vidaa_client.{pem,key}
Auth mode tried auto, and the automatic fallback through all methods

TV clock — correct and matching. Host and container are both Europe/Rome

Happy to help

The official VIDAA app pairs and controls this TV normally, so the working exchange is observable. I can capture the app's traffic against the TV, or run any patched build or instrumented script you want against it, and report back.
