configure successful, but both make or gmake are telling me "no targets"

I ran into this issue myself. Problem was 'Makefile' was 0 bytes. Delete the file and rerun ./configure - it should create a working Makefile. At least, it did for me.

If you want to test my fork here https://github.com/carlonluca/mldonkey, it does not use configure/make anymore, so you should not experience the issue.
