Summary

  • Adds a "Competitive landscape" section to DESIGN.md noting Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Identity (Apr 2026 launch, Jun 2026 bring-your-own-secret extension)
  • Clarifies scope difference: AgentCore Identity targets hosted Bedrock/AWS agent workloads calling external APIs via OAuth; llms targets the local dev-machine terminal coding agent with macaroon leases, no cloud dependency
  • Positioning only, no code change

Test plan

  • Docs-only change, no tests affected

Positioning only — different scope (hosted Bedrock agents vs. local
dev-machine terminal agents), no code change.
DESIGN.md ships inside the published crate (no include/exclude in
Cargo.toml, so cargo publish packages everything git-tracked). Named-
vendor competitive analysis belongs in docs/internal/ (gitignored),
not in something crates.io users can read.

Reverted the DESIGN.md addition — it ships inside the published crate (no include/exclude in Cargo.toml), and named-vendor competitive analysis belongs in gitignored docs/internal/, not something crates.io users can read. Net diff against main is now zero, so closing rather than merging a no-op.
