An italic leans past its advance, so the top-right of a follow-up's last letter sits outside the box -- and `overflow: hidden`, there so a long one ends in an ellipsis, clipped it. Measured with 1:1 crops of the strip: "yourself" ended in an "f" whose hook was cut flat at the box edge; with a quarter em of padding on the right it is whole.
