REST API Backend Service

A secure and scalable REST API backend built using Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, and JWT authentication.

This project includes user authentication, protected routes, task CRUD operations, search, pagination, filtering, sorting, MongoDB Atlas integration, and centralized error handling.

⚙️ Installation
git clone https://github.com/Akshithreddy8025/REST-API-Backend-Service.git
cd REST-API-Backend-Service
npm install
🔐 Environment Variables

Create a .env file in the root folder:

PORT=5000
MONGO_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string
JWT_SECRET=your_secret_key
NODE_ENV=development

Do not upload your .env file to GitHub.

▶️ Run Project
npm run dev

Server will run on:

http://localhost:5000

Completed locally with authentication, authorization, CRUD, search, pagination, filtering, sorting, and error handling.
