Hi, I'm Alemu Sisay Nigru. 👋
I obtained my BSc in Electrical & Computer Engineering (Communication Engineering) at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia, in 2016, and my MSc in Communication Technologies and Multimedia at the University of Brescia, Italy (110/110 cum Laude).
I completed my PhD in AI in Medicine at the University of Brescia in May 2026, working on deep learning for spine imaging, including LumbarAI, a Swin3D Transformer-based system for automated grading of lumbar spine pathologies from MRI.
Research interests: deep learning for medical imaging, computer vision, explainable AI, clinical NLP / LLMs for automated reporting, multimodal clinical decision support.
