Design Specifications

There are really three components needed:

Platform for conducting FVS

• Qualtrics (proprietary and closed source)
• Design our own platform or web app (open source - so that others could use our survey template)

Configure Platform for our study

Design

• Each participant will enter demographic information
• Each participant will be given a scenario (vignette) to judge
• A participant should be required to judge == 5 scenarios and nor more than 20 scenarios

Vignettes

• Our study scenarios will have five parameters: sender, recipient, subject, information type, and transmission principle. (note these are the five parameters from the Contextual Integrity framework).
• We will shuffle the parameters for each scenario - so a user never sees the same scenario twice.

Judgements

• Sliding scale between -100 (strongly disagree) and 100 (strongly agree) The text should read "Tell us how much you agree with the statements below. Using a sliding scale from–100 to 100, with–100 indicating “strongly disagree”and 100 indicating“stronglyagree.

Stretch goal

• With enough responses, it would be valuable to show a participant how their judgement compared to their peers (based on demographic information like age, academic rank, or field of study)
• We could offer this as a visualization of the distribution of judgements
• Upon completing a scenario judgement, we display how their choice ranks or do it at the end

Reliable way to get data out of platform for analysis

• Export tables
