Cleaned up server scripts

This commit cleans up some of the server-side code.

• Use async/await exclusively
• Added error handling wrapper for routes
• Added VFS call wrapper for handling calls with sessions
• Improved discovery http call error handling
• Use streams whenever possible
• Removed some defunct code
• Various cleanups
