Generated rule files are intentionally route-first and lazy about skill loading:
- inspect locally first
- route through native workflows or agents first
- execute directly for simple tasks
- load skills only when the user names one or the domain is still unclear

cbx init is a guided wrapper around cbx workflows install. It does not generate repo source files inside Foundry itself. It generates install artifacts in the target workspace for each selected runtime.
Step by step:
- Collect selections for bundle, platforms, skill profile, MCP integrations, and MCP runtime.
- Map those answers into the shared install engine used by
cbx workflows install. - Apply each selected platform sequentially. If one platform fails, init stops on that failure.
- Write platform runtime artifacts into the workspace-oriented install targets.
- Persist non-secret metadata into
cbx_config.jsonand machine-scoped secrets into~/.cbx/credentials.envwhen keys were supplied. - Patch the selected platform MCP runtime config when
cubis-foundry,postman,stitch, orplaywrightis enabled.

If stored source is env but effective source is unset, your env var alias is missing in the running process.
If installer says config was skipped:

If Docker runtime starts but MCP endpoint is unreachable:
