ActionTracker is a tool for Daggerheart GMs to keep tabs on the number of actions their players make in a scene. If you need help sharing the spotlight between the different PCs, this may help find the quieter players in your party to help balance.
The tool utilises a Pimoroni Unicorn LED display for input and output. Because the Unicorn only has 4 buttons, this is limited to a table of 4 players. You'll also need a USB power source nearby to power the Pico.
It requires the following things:
- A Raspberry Pi Pico (any kind, but the ones with headers pre-soldered will make things easier)
- A Pimoroni Pico Unicorn display
- A USB-A to Micro-USB data cable
- Attach the Unicorn display onto your Pico
- Connect the Pico to your computer in file system mode using the BOOTSEL button
- Install the Pimoroni Unicorn Micropython uf2 file onto your Pico
- Clone this repo to your local machine
- Move the
main.pyfile over to the storage on your Pico - Unplug the Pico and then plug into a power source to start running the code
Once the code is loaded onto the Pico chip, you're ready to use it.
- Plug the Pico into a USB power source and the code should start running.
- Use the A, B, X, and Y buttons to add an action to that player's bar
- Pressing B and X simultaneously will reset all player counters to 0
- Player counters have a maximum value of 8 (half the width of the screen). If you attempt to add
more actions to that counter, the bar will flash. This flash can be disabled with the
DISABLE_FLASHboolean in the code.
