🎙️ blaise - Private meeting notes for your Mac

blaise turns your recorded meetings into organized notes. The software runs entirely on your computer. Your audio files stay on your hardware. It handles English and Portuguese speech. It creates summaries and lists of action items for every session.

⚙️ Requirements

Blaise works on macOS. You need to ensure your system meets these standards:

  • macOS 14.0 or newer.
  • Apple Silicon (M1, M2, or M3 chip).
  • 8 GB of RAM or more.
  • At least 2 GB of storage space for the speech models.

📥 Getting Started

Visit the releases page to download the application.

  1. Open the website link.
  2. Look for the latest release at the top of the list.
  3. Click the link that ends in .dmg to start your download.
  4. Open the downloaded file once it finishes.
  5. Drag the blaise icon into your Applications folder.

After you move the app to your folder, open it from your Launchpad or Applications list.

  1. Click the blaise icon.
  2. The app appears in your menu bar at the top of the screen.
  3. Click the icon to open the main menu.

  5. Check the settings panel to verify your preferred language mode.

📝 How to use Blaise

The software uses advanced technology to parse audio. You do not need an internet connection.

Recording a meeting

Click the record button in the menu bar. The software captures the audio. It converts speech to text in real time. Use the toggle to switch between English and Portuguese inputs. The app detects language changes automatically.

Creating notes

Stop the recording when your meeting ends. The software processes the audio. It creates a structured note. This includes:

  • A summary of the meeting.
  • A list of action items.
  • Key topics discussed.

Managing files

Blaise saves every transcript locally. You find your history in the internal dashboard. Click the History icon to view old meetings. Each file remains on your drive. No data goes to external servers.

🧪 Advanced Settings

You control how the software behaves. Open the Preferences window to adjust these features:

  • Transcription Precision: Use settings to balance speed and accuracy. High accuracy takes more computer power.
  • Model Management: Download additional speech models if you work with different accents.
  • Storage Location: Change the folder where the app saves your notes.
  • Notification Settings: Choose if you want the app to notify you when a transcript finishes.

🛡️ Privacy

Privacy is the core feature of Blaise. The app uses the MLX framework. This allows the computer to process data using your own hardware. Your recordings never leave your machine. No cloud service monitors your files. You own your notes.

🧩 Troubleshooting

If you face issues, check these frequent fixes:

  • App does not open: Ensure your macOS version matches the requirements.
  • Mic access issues: Check System Settings under Privacy & Security to ensure blaise has microphone permissions.
  • Low performance: Close other high-demand apps to give the transcription engine space to work.
  • Language detection fails: Make sure you chose the correct language mode in the menu bar. If you use mixed codes, select the Auto-Switch mode.

💡 Tips for better transcripts

The software produces better results when you follow these habits:

  • Keep your microphone close to the speaker.
  • Reduce background noise in your office.
  • Speak naturally.
  • Wait a few seconds for the app to finish processing after you end a meeting.

📈 Planned Features

We build new features to help your workflow:

  • Export to PDF and Markdown formats.
  • Calendar integration to sync meeting titles.
  • Custom vocabulary lists for technical terms.
  • Search across all historical files.

We update the app through the release page. Check back often for new versions.
