Einsia — Overleaf Agent

Your AI Research Agent, Right Inside Overleaf.

Write, fix, and refine LaTeX papers without ever leaving your Overleaf project.

What is Einsia Overleaf Agent?

Einsia Overleaf Agent is a browser extension that turns Overleaf into an AI-native research workspace. It lives as a side panel inside your Overleaf project page and works side-by-side with the editor — reading your document, understanding the compile log, searching literature, and applying edits directly to your .tex sources.

It is built for researchers, PhD students, and anyone who writes serious LaTeX and wants an assistant that actually operates the editor instead of just giving advice in a chat window.

This repository is the public-facing home of the Overleaf agent. The product website, pricing, and full documentation live at einsia.ai.

✨ Core features

📚 Paper search across major academic sources

  • Search Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar directly from the side panel.
  • Preview titles, authors, venues, and abstracts without leaving Overleaf.
  • Save results to a per-project Paper Repository that the agent can draw from later.

🔖 One-click citation generation & insertion

  • Turn any searched paper into a clean BibTeX entry in a single click.
  • Automatically insert the entry into your .bib file and the matching \cite{...} at your cursor.
  • Deduplicates keys and keeps your bibliography tidy as the paper grows.

🔬 Deep Research mode

  • Hand the agent a research question or section outline and let it run a multi-step investigation.
  • It searches, cross-references, and synthesizes findings across multiple papers.
  • Delivers a structured briefing with citations you can drop straight into a related-work section.

🖼 Figure & diagram generation

  • Generate illustrative images, diagrams, and schematic figures from natural-language prompts.
  • Results are saved into your Overleaf project and referenced with proper \includegraphics boilerplate.
  • Great for cover figures, system diagrams, and placeholder visuals during drafting.

🛠 LaTeX syntax fixing

  • Detects compile errors and warnings in the Overleaf gutter and offers a "Resolve with Einsia" action.
  • Explains what went wrong in plain language — unmatched braces, missing packages, bad environments, bib key typos.
  • Applies the fix directly to the source so the next compile is green.

✍️ Style-aware continuation & rewriting

  • Continue writing from where you stopped, matching the tone, tense, and terminology of the surrounding text.
  • Rewrite selected passages for clarity, concision, or a target venue's style (academic, technical, review-response).
  • Polish grammar and phrasing without flattening your voice.
