Sakinah

Faith-aligned mental health support for Muslims

Sakinah is a digital mental health platform designed to help Muslims access care that respects both clinical needs and Islamic values. The platform connects users with Muslim providers, scholar-informed guidance, community support, educational resources, and AI-assisted matching through Khalil.

✨ Vision

Many Muslims struggle to find mental health care that is both clinically appropriate and religiously comfortable. Sakinah was created to bridge that gap.

Our goal is to make support more accessible by combining:

  • a trusted network of Muslim mental health providers
  • scholar-informed Islamic guidance
  • intelligent matching based on user needs
  • community and educational support
  • financial assistance pathways

🌿 What Sakinah Offers

Provider Matching

Users can be matched with Muslim providers across clinics and private practice based on:

  • location
  • insurance
  • language
  • provider gender preference
  • specialty
  • telehealth or in-person availability

Islamic Guidance

When needed, users can access scholar-informed guidance that helps them navigate therapy in a way that aligns with their faith.

AI Support with Khalil

Khalil is the AI-powered intake assistant built into the platform. Khalil helps users:

  • start building their profile
  • share their needs in a conversational way
  • begin the matching process
  • improve future matches through feedback after visits

Community Support

Sakinah includes a moderated community space where users can:

  • share stories
  • ask questions
  • learn from others
  • find encouragement and belonging

Education Hub

The platform also includes educational content rooted in Islamic tradition, including:

  • reflections on emotional well-being
  • lessons on grief, patience, hardship, and resilience
  • stories from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the Sahabah

Financial Assistance

Sakinah is designed to support users who may not be able to afford therapy through:

  • subsidized care
  • hardship-based support
  • donor-funded assistance
  • nonprofit and community partnerships

🧭 Core Pathways

Sakinah is built around three main support pathways:

  1. Find a Muslim Provider
Get matched with a provider who understands Islamic values and mental health needs.

  2. Receive Scholar-Informed Guidance
Access a faith-sensitive framework when navigating treatment decisions.

  3. Join Community & Education
Learn, connect, and heal through shared experiences and trusted content.

🤖 Why Khalil Matters

Khalil is not a replacement for care — it is the first step toward it.

Khalil helps make intake feel:

  • easier
  • more personal
  • less overwhelming
  • more responsive to each user’s needs

By learning from user feedback after appointments, Khalil helps the platform improve future matches over time.
