Chunk

WS-CI-005-PLAN

Goal

Plan a discriminating semantic-proof layer for the existing reviewer system.

Human-approved intent

Improve reviewer skills and custom agents so a PASS is supported by proof able
to observe the claimed defect, without adding repository authority.

What changed

  • Added WS-CI-005 intent, discovery, plan, risks, decisions, status, and map.
  • Defined three bounded future implementation contracts.
  • Added a closed claimed-boundary/proof-strength compatibility model.
  • Recorded ten historical escape classes and malicious-evidence resistance.
  • Addressed both substantive CodeRabbit comments and added durable response and
    trust records.

Why it changed

Exact-head receipts prove which tree was reviewed, but previous reviews still
accepted tests or inspection too weak to prove the claimed behavior.

Design chosen

Extend WS-CI-004 with test-of-the-test probes, validator-owned proof
compatibility, reusable escaped-failure patterns, and blind forward evaluation
before behavioral adoption.

Alternatives rejected

  • More reviewers: duplicates specialties without improving proof.
  • Filename inference: cannot prove semantic compatibility.
  • Hosted evidence authority: creates a second authority system.
  • Universal heavyweight execution: disproportionate for low-risk changes.

Scope control

Planning and repository engineering memory only. No product code, migration,
workflow, permissions, merge gate, coverage threshold, or reviewer specialty
changed.

Product behavior

None.

Acceptance criteria proof

  • Compatibility is validator-owned; reviewer self-attestation cannot override
    it.
  • Source inspection cannot support PASS for repository, transaction,
concurrency, or direct-SQL claims without compatible executed custody.
  • All ten historical escape classes and untrusted evidence are covered.
  • Every future acceptance atom maps to an exact named proof.
  • State projections and merge outcomes are machine-valid and planned.

Tests/checks run

  • Active-state and atomic chunk-state checks: passed.
  • Markdown links and stale review/authorization/Workstream/artifact scans:
    passed.
  • Reviewer contract validator: passed.
  • Reviewer-contract and review-target unit tests: 35 passed.
  • Diff hygiene: passed.

Test delta

No test file, assertion, test selection, workflow, or coverage command changed.
Future test selectors are contractual obligations, not implemented behavior.

CI integrity

No workflow, lane, runner, package script, coverage command, or threshold
changed. Required local Agent Gates commands pass.

Reviewer results

Final exact-head applicable reviews at 4afc88e43a59db1bf00bb6cd73637434c1e00f05:

Reviewer Result
Architecture/authority PASS
Documentation/product PASS
QA/test delta PASS
Reuse/dedup PASS
Senior engineering PASS WITH LOW RISKS

The semantic repair at prior head 9f452c4f23fe835fbd50965cc94c1d242b248a61
also received architecture, CI integrity, QA, security, documentation/product,
and senior-engineering PASS or PASS WITH LOW RISKS results. The final commit
changed only the reviewer-results table; affected tracks were replayed.

External review

CodeRabbit fresh substantive review identified two valid issues: present-tense
future outcomes and a source-inspection custody loophole. Both are fixed.
Final-head CodeRabbit refresh remains external and pending after this push.

Remaining risks

Future implementation could still become ceremonial or non-discriminating.
Named controls and independent blind evaluation are mandatory before adoption.

Follow-up work

After human approval, start only WS-CI-005-01. Do not start successors
automatically.

Human review focus

Confirm source inspection cannot replace executed database/session custody,
the taxonomy stays minimal, and no new authority is introduced.

Human merge ownership

GitHub permissions, protected-branch checks, and explicit human approval remain
authoritative. Internal receipts and trust summaries are advisory only.

Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to c848c

The plan could allow source inspection to stand in for required database or session-based evidence, creating false PASS decisions about semantic proof quality. That merge-readiness issue should be corrected or explicitly accepted; the remaining documentation wording inconsistency is bounded and non-blocking.
