Change

WS-POL-003-04A2 adds hidden atomic finalization for an accepted guide compilation and its exact existing sufficiency and artifact-policy projections. The current queued setup closes as sufficiency_blocked or policy_draft_ready, with an immutable receipt and authorization evidence in the caller’s transaction.

Intent And Planning Context

The bounded change record owns intent, allowed files, design alternatives, acceptance criteria, and the next boundary. Main’s concurrent audit repairs are integrated.

What Changed And Why

  • A purpose-specific AUTH port supplies request-local prepared authority. Production authorization remains unavailable; this PR provides no live route or worker composition.
  • PROJECT validates current compilation, setup generation, exact projections, output digests and authority before persisting. Replay is re-queried after serialization locks and validated without another receipt or evidence event. Prepared authority closes before product mutation; the service never commits.
  • Migration 0010 enforces composite ownership, immutable receipts and finalized setups, database-owned timestamps, exact setup mutation width, and deferred receipt/setup agreement. Legacy-only setup generations retain their existing behavior.
  • The deterministic task identity has one dependency-free PROJECT API owner. Pure projection custody digests are reused unchanged.
  • Tests cover service ordering separately from actual PostgreSQL guards, rollback, replay and independent-session races. Current capability docs and migration consumers reflect 0010.

Scope Control And Product Behavior

All changes fit the linked record’s allowed files. No external provider execution, new projection execution, HTTP/Celery composition, approval, activation, or post-submit continuation is added. AUTH-12B2 is the next separately reviewed boundary and is not started here.

  • Backend run 34169244908: all seven lanes and aggregate gates passed; 4,967/4,967 canonical tests completed, with zero skips or deselections; 91.56% global coverage.
  • Agent Gates: passed.
  • Focused finalization gate: 204 passed, 95.30% branch coverage, above the required 90%.
  • Ruff, diff checks, changed Markdown links, Commitrail, stale wording and stale authorization scans passed. No local sheet exports are present. Full PostgreSQL and coverage execution runs in hosted CI.
  • Hosted merge 7e3e9c284a68533ad6327242890dc8f17f62990a has parents base + reviewed head. Its tree 6ee5329045aad1897fde6bad524a70516f94cab3 is identical to the reviewed head.

Acceptance Criteria Proof

The record’s matrix names exact functions and semantic cases. Pure/service tests establish ordering and denial behavior; PostgreSQL tests own foreign ownership, generation/projection agreement, immutability, rollback, clocks, replay, migration parity and independent-session races.

All 272 finalization nodes completed across project lanes A/B, which passed 605 and 627 total tests respectively.

The missing-receipt regression now supplies exact persisted outputs and valid transition fields for all three result classifications. It verifies the stored tuple, database-owned timestamp and receipt absence before asserting the specific deferred setup finalization receipt missing error. Immediate transition errors occur outside the expected-error block. Three mutation cases disable only that deferred trigger and require the same proof to fail with DID NOT RAISE; rollback restores all state and the exact enabled trigger flag. The earlier incomplete-transition rejection remains a separate test.

The first correction run exposed a bytes-versus-text mismatch in the final trigger-restoration assertion. The final head explicitly casts the catalog flag to text while retaining the exact O assertion. No production guard was changed.

The subsequent main integration exposed reliance on incidental AUTH tests: the project repository fell to 77.78% against its unchanged 78% floor. Six explicit contract cases now cover absent, single and ambiguous active-guide results for normal and locking lookups, including exact project/status predicates, selected entity and SQL lock intent. These are mock-backed query/result contracts, not real database isolation proof. Mutations that discard a valid match, add an extra entity or FROM source, or add an unintended NOWAIT lock all fail the exact tests. QA findings PR377-ACTIVE-GUIDE-001 and 002 led to explicit single-entity/single-table and lock-absence assertions; both repairs were batched before the final push. Repository coverage at this head: 79.86%.

Test Delta

Nine focused finalization test modules were added with separate bounded support helpers. A separate six-case active-guide repository module now owns query/result proof lost from incidental audit coverage. Existing tests only update migration-head restoration, identity imports and exact schema/lane/ownership registration. No tests were removed, skipped or deselected. The stale-identity-map probe deliberately corrupts a stored view inside a rolled-back transaction; it proves refresh behavior, not a valid lifecycle mutation.

Impact-Routed Reviewer Results

Affected reviews replayed against a9db2af2bf0659b63da9efde825df9667a7fa83c on 2026-09-07 UTC:

Reviewer tracks Result Session Proof boundary
CI integrity PASS implementation_ci All 4,967 hosted nodes, active-guide lane registration, repository coverage and unchanged gates
Documentation PASS implementation_docs Finalization complete; AUTH-12B2 next and not started

QA/test-delta PASS remains attributed to a15d4b76321d11ad00527a7cf6efd9897e97b501. All runtime code, tests, lane registration and workflows are byte-identical at the current head; only four documentation commands changed. The final docs review reproduced the old directory-change failure and verified all four subshell commands preserve the caller’s working directory.

The earlier architecture/security (plan_architecture_security), product operations/senior engineering (plan_product_ops) and reuse/dedup (implementation_reuse) PASS reviews remain attributed to f426331c3fa11e960e9c03e2761f8e60504d0114. The current main merge includes the AUTH test audit. The subsequent repairs add the missing-receipt proof, explicit active-guide repository contract coverage and its lane registration, plus the corresponding record and roadmap updates. Production, schema and workflows are identical to the prior reviewed implementation; unaffected review results retain their original head attribution. Those reviews are not relabeled as new-head reviews. Paired specialties were performed by the same agent.

The coverage finding CI-POL04A2-002 and both active-guide QA findings are fixed. The earlier user-reported missing-receipt proof gap and catalog-flag assertion finding are resolved and verified in the final hosted PostgreSQL run. Reviewer summaries are advisory mirrors of session evidence and do not authorize merge.

External Review

Fresh substantive review at a15d4b76: CodeRabbit’s incremental review found one minor documentation defect: repeated cd backend commands failed when pasted into one shell. Commit a9db2af2 wraps each in a subshell. Independent shell-state and syntax probes verified the fix. Its separate docstring warning is advisory; no repository gate was weakened.

Not fresh on the documentation-only head: CodeRabbit returned Review rate limited. That green status is not approval. The source review and subsequent documentation fix retain their distinct target attribution.

CI And Gate Integrity

The existing repository-wide 78% and subsystem 90% floors are preserved. A dedicated finalization 90% branch-coverage gate is added. All seven semantic lanes and independent artifact/node reconciliation remain required. No lint, test, docstring, package-script, selection or workflow gate was weakened. The five new behavior-ownership records remain transparently marked as catalogue candidates.

Duplicate Backend run 34169245253 was canceled and its aggregate failed closed on missing lane artifacts. Run 34169244908 supplies the final complete execution; canceled evidence is not treated as passing. Both required contexts (test, agent-gates) pass on the current head; GitHub reports REVIEW_REQUIRED for fresh human approval.

Remaining Risks And Follow-Up Work

Production authority activation belongs to AUTH-12B2. Finalized unified setup rows are immutable; later post-submit integration requires separate reviewed custody. Migration downgrade refuses non-empty finalization custody. Local execution excludes PostgreSQL and the full backend suite; hosted CI owns those proofs. Hosted backend wall time was 559.42 seconds, exceeding the informational 480-second target; no timing or coverage gate was changed.

Human Review Focus

Inspect receipt/setup agreement, authority binding and closure ordering, exact generation/projection custody, replay after serialization, immutable finalized rows, and separation from the live legacy worker.

This change adds atomic setup-finalization custody and database enforcement. A remaining documentation verification-command concern has no production runtime impact, but should be confirmed before merge.

497-498: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Keep each backend verification command in a subshell.

When this block runs in one shell, line 495 changes the working directory to backend. Line 496 then runs cd backend from that directory and fails because backend/backend does not exist. The later test commands do not run.

Wrap each command in (cd backend && ...), or change directory once and remove the repeated cd backend prefixes.
