IamGalymzhan/README.md

Hi, I'm Galymzhan 👋

Backend engineer building systems that solve real problems. Started with competitive programming, now shipping production code at Astana Hub.

What I Do

I engineer software from scratch and optimize what already exists. Currently working on backend services handling 7K+ active users, building everything from WebSocket chat systems to high-performance APIs.

Right now:

  • 🏢 Backend Developer at Astana Hub (Kazakhstan's national tech hub)
  • 🛠️ Building Finance Tracker - solving my own pain of manual transaction imports
  • 📚 Learning system design and distributed architectures
  • 🌱 Looking to contribute to open source

Tech Stack

Languages I work with:

  • Java (my go-to for serious systems)
  • Python (when I need speed and simplicity)
  • SQL (PostgreSQL mostly)

Tools & Frameworks:

  • Spring Boot, Django, FastAPI
  • Docker, Redis, MongoDB
  • Git/GitHub, JUnit, pytest

Background

Started coding through competitive programming olympiads. Spent years solving algorithmic problems in C++ until I got addicted. That foundation helps me write efficient code and debug complex systems.

Competitive Programming:

  • Codeforces Specialist (1700 rating, 500+ problems solved)
  • National Olympiad in Informatics: Silver & Bronze medals (Top 12 nationally)

These days I write less CP and more production code, but the problem-solving mindset stuck with me.

Featured Project

Built this because I was tired of manually importing bank transactions. It automatically parses PDF statements and categorizes expenses.

Tech: Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker Highlights:

  • JWT authentication & secure APIs
  • 9x faster API responses through caching
  • PDF parser for automatic transaction import
  • Background job processing

Planning to add a frontend soon and maybe open it up for others with the same problem.

What Drives Me

I like seeing "Accepted" on a solution I spent days thinking about. I like building something from nothing and watching it work. I like making slow things fast.

When I'm not coding, I'm probably doing sports or thinking about the next optimization.

Let's Connect

Open to: Internship opportunities, interesting side projects, and collaboration on open source.

Write clean code. Make it work. Make it better.
