Build in Debian/testing does not work

Build in Debian/testing does not work:

$ ./gradlew shadowJar

Installing the gradle Debian package, and running graddle shadowJar after the failed ./gradlew shadowJar resulted in successful build of ordt. However, that worked only once. I couldn't repeat it in a fresh directory. Now I get an error:

$ gradle shadowJar
