Tip
Pigeon is a hackable smart clock that integrates Home Assistant's, Ollama's and Gemini's API.
Pigeons were once used for mailing, which involved transferring information. In this case, it's for smart home gadgets.
These days, there are a lot of smart IoT gadgets that make our lives easier but also harder at the same time. With every manufacturer having its own application, managing them becomes anoying and hard. Here comes Home Assistant.
Home Assistant is a self-hosted application that integrates almost all smart IoT devices in one place.
The problem is that there isn't any existing implementation of a smart hub with Home Assistant that isn't just Home Assistant's web interface.
That's where Pigeon comes in.
Pigeon is a project that doesn’t aim to be a final product but rather a base that anyone can build upon and customize to their liking.
It’s intended to be used as a smart hub to control your Home Assistant.
I personally use Arch Linux on a daily basis, where configurations are stored in files that you "must" edit to tailor the system to your needs.
That’s why the configuration is in a config.yaml file, because it’s portable and easy to manage.
Its intended audience is people who like to tinker with their gadgets and host their own services.
Tip
Here comes the documentation. You can find it here.
I will personally use it, so I’ll make sure it works in your home just as it does in mine.
Important
Though I can help personally, I am not responsible for any damaged components or similar issues.
