Warning
OverBuddy is deprecated and no longer actively maintained due to the removal of menu customization in Season 2: Summit (2026).
This repository and its final release are preserved as a demonstration of the app's past functionality, but the app is not expected to keep working with current or future Overwatch updates.
OverBuddy was a free, open source Windows app for customizing your Overwatch™ main menu. Whether you were a Doomfist main who wanted Tropical Doomfist back, still couldn't get over your crush on Cupid Hanzo, or you just missed the look and sound of the last collaboration event... OverBuddy had you covered.
Note: Because of the New Menu experience introduced in Season 1: Conquest, using a custom background will hide the dynamic feed and links to new Event, Shop, and Lore content.
OverBuddy worked with both Battle.net® and Steam® installations of Overwatch™ on Windows.
You could browse available Overwatch main menu backgrounds and apply your favourite to see it in game the next time you played.
To change the menu background, OverBuddy updated your Battle.net® and/or Steam® configuration files. It did NOT modify any game files and did NOT collect your personal data. Changes were applied after OverBuddy automatically restarted your Battle.net and/or Steam client.
You don't have to take my word for it! The source code remains openly available for anyone, including you, to review. The published app was built via an automated build pipeline that you can find here.
Changed your mind? You could click the Revert to Default button at any time to remove all customizations.
OverBuddy could enable the Overwatch debug console, accessible in-game using the Alt + ~ hotkey.
OverBuddy is deprecated and no longer receives compatibility updates for new Overwatch patches. The project remains available for reference, historical interest, and demonstrating how the app worked.

As with all software, OverBuddy is built on the shoulders of giants.
I would like to extend my gratitude to SkyBorik for showing the community How to change Main Menu background, to Toyz for publishing the Overwatch command line arguments, and to the OverTools Team for their OWLib tool. This app would not have been possible without their contributions to the community.
