The way we deploy this code as a standard checkin system in our makerspaces involves hardware and software. This wiki documents the hardware setup, software, and related tools.

Hardware Setup

This code is intended to run on a Raspberry Pi with a connected touchscreen. This Hardware Setup page documents the specific hardware we use and how it is set up.

Software Setup

Aside from running the code in this repo, Software Setup also includes information on how to configure the hardware to auto-launch the software and protect it from power cycles and other shop mishaps.

Related Tools

In addition to the checkin station itself, we also use digital signage to prominently show the current list of checked in users, and reporting for shop managers and admins to collect space usage metrics.
