Design

Curriculum should be designed as a series of progressive modules with a focus on active learning rather passive learning. This means making the curriculum as hands-on and application-based as possible.

Module Design

A curriculum is a series of modules. For each module in a curriculum, the following elements should be evaluated:

  • What are the overall takeaways for this unit?
  • What motivational or inspirational information should I include?
    • i.e Teaching is the best way to reinforce learning
    • i.e This can be challenging and frustrating at first, and that's normal.
  • Technical Learning Milestones
    • What major technical learning milestones should be hit in this unit?
  • Content
    • In-person + Discussion + Exercises
    • Video + Slides
      • Starter Code
      • Guides
  • 3 tracks
    • Electrical
    • Mechanical
    • Software

Required Curriculum

The following curriculum will have to be developed:

  • Setup and orientation videos

    • Setup my system
    • Loading libraries
  • Home Modules

    • Videos and online exercises
    • 6 Videos with slides
    • Slides
    • ?? Recipe Guides
  • Workshops

    • 6 Labs
    • Starter code
    • Develop library scaffolding
  • Deliverables

    • 1 deliverable after 2 weeks for initial project
    • Mentor checkins
    • 1 deliverable at the end of the 6 weeks

    • How do you form meaningful teams?
    • Formation mixer? Survey questions?
