wayback-archiver helps you keep a record of the websites you visit. It saves copies of web pages automatically so you can view them later, even if they change or disappear. Think of it as a personal internet memory bank that stores the pages you want to keep.
This tool runs on Windows and works quietly in the background. It captures full-page content, including images and text, so you won’t lose important information by accident.
To use wayback-archiver on your Windows computer, you need:
- Windows 10 or later (64-bit version recommended)
- At least 4 GB of RAM
- 200 MB of free storage (more if you plan to save many web pages)
- Internet connection for initial download and online archiving
Follow these steps to download and start using wayback-archiver.
You need to visit the releases page to get the latest version of wayback-archiver for Windows.
- Click the link above to open the releases page.
- Look for the most recent release. It will usually have a name that includes the version number and "Windows" or ".exe".
- Download the
.exefile for Windows by clicking on it.
- Find the file you just downloaded in your "Downloads" folder or the location you saved it.
- Double-click the
.exefile. This starts the installation. - Follow the on-screen steps to install wayback-archiver. Usually, just click "Next" to accept default options.
- Once finished, you can open the program either from the last installer window or from your Start menu.
After installing:
- Launch wayback-archiver from the Start menu or desktop.
- The program will indicate it is ready to save the web pages you visit.
- When you browse the internet with your browser, wayback-archiver will automatically create backups of the pages you open.
- You can open the program to view and organize your saved pages anytime.

Look for the gear icon or settings menu inside the program to change these.
- Program won’t start: Check if your Windows version is 10 or later. Restart your computer and try again.
- Pages not saving: Make sure you're connected to the internet. Confirm archiving is enabled in settings.
- Storage full: Review saved pages and delete old ones to free space.
- Slow browser: Close other programs or reduce save frequency in wayback-archiver settings.
- Permission issues: Run the installer as administrator (right-click the .exe, then "Run as administrator").
