Project Summary

The Conrad Roth Slides Collection is a small archival collection of mid-twentieth-century Kodachrome photographs documenting the landscapes, plants, trees, and natural features of southern Ohio.

Created by Conrad Roth (1877–1959) of Portsmouth, Ohio, the collection provides insight into amateur nature photography, local environmental history, and community education during the 1940s and 1950s.

This repository documents the archival processing, historical research, preservation assessment, and digital exhibition of the collection.

Research Journal

What I learned: Observe, record everything, research everything, record more, research more, generate lots of documentation. Equals, too much unfocused content, time consuming, cost ineffective, creates more work, not sustainable. A client project needs a Question, Observation, Analysis, Research, Conclusion, and finally, a Deliverable. Date: 21 June 2026, AU.
