Graph view labels nodes with the last IRI segment instead of a readable label #2
The graph tab derives a node label by taking the last segment of the IRI. For many vocabularies that is unreadable, for example a Wikidata or EMMO identifier, and it is a poor default even where it happens to work.
Suggested: resolve a label through a fallback chain over the usual annotation properties, skos:prefLabel, rdfs:label, schema:name, and only fall back to the last IRI segment when none is present. The view is built on a Python UI library, so a fallback chain is straightforward to add.
Raised at the MaterialsCommons WP2 hands-on workshop, 15 September 2026, in the context of visualising quantities where the readable name lives in skos:prefLabel.
