+ Added Leaderboards!

Track your personal best times across each of the races.
(this can be found inside of the Hall of Frame)

+ Added Autobackup / Manual Backup

Autobackups are set to every hour, manual you can control from the settings menu. I'll refine this over time to be a true autobackup/save function

  • Reduced the boss spawn chances for gen0-3 since players wont be able to beat them until around gen4
  • Fixed a few bugs

Title system revamp!

The Hall of Fame/Stable title system has been reworked. Now instead of just getting a flat buff from a title each title has a level (I to V) and XP is earned for those titles by retiring a horse with the matching one. To get a title to level V you will need 20XP, or rather, retire 20 horses with the same title.

  • Fixed up some colors for the rare/legendary/mythic coats
  • Added a purse bonus to win streaks
  • Made some price adjustments to market horses and stud syndicate

+ Added Trackside betting!

Sit back and take a break from training: place bets on AI horses.
First iteration, definitely a work in progress. Singleplayer only for now.

+ Added a side view of the race!

This is just another view of the race instead of the usual top down way we have.
Currently a work in progress.

+ Added other Player horses to singleplayer!

Now you can export your horse codes to give out to other players to add into their AI pool of horses when racing.
There is a new export/import setting in the Trade Center and you can manage your added horses and/or turn the feature off in the Settings menu.
Gain extra prestige and money by beating them

Other:

  • Tuned the race engine to have horses move at a more natural smooth pace and hopefully reduce the jumping they were doing when whipping
  • Tweaked some more UI stuff

Artwork and some text are still placeholders/generic.
Once the game is in a good place I plan on hiring an artist for all of the UI and a copyeditor to clean things up.

+ Added multiplayer!

This is a HEAVILY EXPERIMENTAL feature in this build and is still not quite syncing well between clients and host. For now it is hidden by default but you can enable it in the settings.

Host settings:
AI: ON/OFF
Scaling: ON / SAME / OFF
on: scales players to 75% of the highest stat player horse
same: scales all players to the max stat ceiling
off: raw stats

Known bugs for multiplayer:

  • Scaling is still a bit off for AI as well as player stamina values. Still actively tweaking these
  • if a host leaves a lobby, the clients will get kicked back out to the menu but unable to make or join another game (stuck on 'connecting...'. You just need to back out to the main menu and then go into multiplayer and it should work again
  • Clients stamina gets stuck at the start of a race, you need to hit whip a few times quickly and then give it a second and it should start moving correctly

Bugs/Fixes:

  • fixed a bug where gen0 horses were not being generated on a brand new game save
  • reduced the Pool Training from 3 laps to 2 laps
  • set the minimum Turf Training time to 19seconds and added a bell curve

  • AI Behavior and stamina overhaul
    Reworked AI stamina values and their behavior with whipping in their zones and knowing when not to spend all their stamina. Smarter behavior when lagging behind the pack leader as well
  • Adjusted player stamina
    Still trying to dial this in but players should not be able to whip 40 times in a race. It should feel very strategic for whipping in zone and when to conserve. Players should also be able to track having more stamina to use in a race when they train that stat.
  • Fixed some UI stuff

Still working on this but the new values are a bit closer to how I want them. I will still be adjusting this in future updates.

+ Added Training Minigames!

Training is set to Manual by default, if you want to go back to quick Auto training you can change this in the settings.

3 minigames:
Turf - Finish the race in the specified time
Pool - Timing minigame
Dirt - Keep pace with the pace horse
Paddock Walk and Rest stay as auto for now.

+ Added Keyboard input and remapping!

WHIP is mapped to Spacebar and HOLD is mapped to Ctrl. These can be remapped in the settings.

+ Added Prestige system with Theme Years!

Earn prestige by placing Top 3 in races. Spend prestige on 6 new themes to influence your horse's next race year. The themes are:

Iron Season (Dirt)
All-Weather Circuit (Synthetic)
Sprint Series (Mixed)
Marathon Year (Dirt/Turf)
Turf Festival (Turf)
Monsoon Circuit (Dirt/Synthetic)

+ Added 28 new achievements!

Put in a few synthetic track special races

+ Added Locking mechanic to market horses

Now you can choose to LOCK a market horse if you dont have the funds or just want to keep it from getting cycled out. Only one horse from each generation can be locked at a time.

+ Added hover tooltip to training buttons!

Now on hover you can see exactly which stats you gain from the training types

Other tweaks/adjustments/fixes:

  • Tweaked the AI further for more realistic whipping in zone as well as better scaling for stat ceilings (still a work in progress)

  • Tweaked the Rival/Nemesis system - losing to a nemesis 5 times now removes the nemesis horse from the opponent pool, generates a new rival and reduces player horse stats by 1.0. (I am still trying to balance the rival system so sometimes the rivals/nemesis can get stuck with very high stats, causing a reset hopefully will solve this in the short-term. This is still a work in progress)

  • Changed the random events to be popups for more visibility

  • Added Skip button to end the race early once your horse finishes

  • Adjusted some stamina scaling

  • Added some security and validations to importing/exporting horses
    PLEASE NOTE: Due to the new way I am handling validations any horses generated by a previous version of the game will not be able to be imported into this version. Going forward, this system should remain the same however you should always import any horses you have back into your stable before playing a new version of this game.

  • Fixed trained stats calculations for breeding, they should now calculate true stat values

  • Gave a slight buff to the Horse Market generated horses
    (Moved the bell curve forward slightly to reduce D and C tier stats spawning as often and reduced negative performance genes appearing slightly)

  • Buffed the Scouting Network facility to give a more evenly spread bonus in market horse stats and ceiling bonus

  • Reworked Assistant Trainer to train horses up to 50% of their max stats

  • Added performance gene mutations:
    Two H/n genes from parents have a chance to combine and upgrade to a single H+/n gene with an even rarer chance to elevate both genes and pass a H+/H+ to the foal.

  • Moved the rename horse field to above the Rename Horse button to be less confusing

  • Fixed a crash caused by hitting rename horse button and then navigating to a new screen before closing it

  • Expanded the breeding preview screen to show more info for all possible generations and other stats

  • Made some backend changes to caching which should hopefully help the game run faster and make less disk writes

  • Added some new breeding consumables and sorting to the consumables tab
    (the new consumables are locked behind the Genetics Lab)

  • Fixed a bug that wouldnt spawn horses in the market on a first time game load

Trade Center feature added!
Generate cards (as PNGs) to share with other players or create them to save for your collection. When you export a horse it removes it from your stable and generates a card image for that horse with a unique code embedded in the metadata. It also auto copies the transfer code if you would rather just use that. Upon importing a card image it will delete it from your cards folder. You can scan the horse and check out it's stats before adding it to your stable.

You can only import horses up to the highest generation you have unlocked

In the near future I'll be adding in a function to add other player horses to your AI pool of horses which will give extra rewards if you come across them and beat them in a race.

Settings page added!
It's pretty barren right now but you can see where the save data and trade center cards are being stored and there is a button to open up the folder on your desktop

Bug Fixes:

  • adjusted the AI to have a ceiling and soft cap for their scaling stats
    This should hopefully put an emphasis on breeding horses over the generation stat ceiling so once your horse has maxed stats it will defeat most of the opponents. A normal horse at or under the generation stat ceiling will still have a competitive time towards the end of their career.

  • Fixed a bug in the handicap sheet that wasn't showing AI stats correctly. The handicap sheet should now accurately reflect the stats an AI horse will have in the race. Also fixed a few stats for the player horse, namely the generational debuff, so now the handicap shows the true stats of player and AI horses.

  • Fixed the race snapping horses at the finish line, now the race fully plays out until the first 4 horses cross the line and then extrapolates and ends the race for the last two.

  • Fixed a bug where the random race events were not showing up in the event display area. They were working in the background but the text was getting cleared when returning to calendar after the post race care screen

  • Added a Stat Grade section into the compendium under the BASICS tab (at the bottom)

Currently the program will save all data in the same location as the EXE, it will create:

stable.json - the data

/Cards - to create and save the trading cards into

I've zipped it up so it can live in it's own folder to contain the data creation etc.
