This release contains the standalone precompiled Windows executable aggro_chess.exe.

AggroChess is a tactical, highly aggressive UCI chess engine written in Rust, inspired by the legendary playstyle of Mikhail Tal.

Key Highlights:

  • Tal-Style Aggression Heuristics: Speculative sacrifice discounts (up to 45% discount on sacrificed material during king attacks), king ring cramp bonuses, and attack coordination heuristics (+25 cp per coordinate-attacked square).
  • Built-in Opening Gambits: Hardcoded Zobrist-matching paths to play the Evans Gambit, King's Gambit, Smith-Morra, Danish, Albin, Stafford, and Budapest openings (no external files required).
  • High-Performance Search: Running at 1.4 Million+ NPS using Principal Variation Search (PVS), Aspiration Windows, and SEE pruning.

How to Install:

  • Download aggro_chess.exe.
  • Add it as a standard UCI engine in your favorite chess GUI (like Arena or Cute Chess).
  • (Optional) Configure BookPath in the engine settings to load an external Polyglot book (e.g., ph-gambitbook.bin) to supplement non-gambit openings.
