  • Fixes GHSA-w5hq-g745-h8pq: v3(), v5(), and v6() did not validate that writes would remain within the bounds of a caller-supplied buffer, allowing out-of-bounds writes when an invalid offset was provided. A RangeError is now thrown if offset < 0 or offset + 16 > buf.length.

What This Library Does & How We Use It

uuid is a universally unique identifier generation library. It is a runtime dependency in seldon's dependencies, used across seldon components wherever unique IDs need to be generated (e.g., for accessible element IDs, list keys, component instances).

What Changed

11.1.0 → 14.0.0 (major — spans 3 major versions: 11, 12, 13, 14)

Risk Rationale

Spans three major versions — though the public API (v4, v1, etc.) is unchanged, the environment requirements change (Node 18 dropped, crypto must be global). As a runtime dep shipped in the seldon bundle, this affects every consumer. The API compat keeps it medium rather than high.

Details:

  • Breaking changes: yes — drops Node 18 support and requires crypto to be available as a global. The UUID generation API itself (v4(), v1(), etc.) is unchanged.
