- A retry now asks the chain first and skips what already landed: stream creation, storage assignment, retention, grants
- The check comes after the backoff wait, so a write still pending when its receipt read failed is seen; a chain that cannot be read waits for the next round instead of sending blind
- Only retries within one attempt sequence change; a fresh call still sends first
