fix: address sync review findings; bump grpc; harden CI - #9
Conversation
- Search: a provider that refuses every request (401/403) no longer turns a real no-match into a retryable ProvidersFailedError. Any other failure, or every source failing, still does. Comments and error text now match. - iTunes Fetch returns only the collection whose id is the requested id, so an artist-id lookup cannot attach another book's metadata. - Tests: synchronize handler observations (mutex/atomic); make the Storytel domain test exercise domain(); align the iTunes lookup test with its fixture and cover unrelated collections. - README: describe ID resolution the way fetchPrimary actually does it. - Bump google.golang.org/grpc v1.75.1 -> v1.83.2 (GO-2026-4762 et al). - Fix pre-existing errcheck/goimports/gofmt/ineffassign findings. - CI: drop `|| true` from go test, pin actions to SHAs, pin golangci-lint v2.14.0, no persisted credentials in non-pushing release jobs; Makefile build-all fails fast; CONTRIBUTING lists lint/coverage and describes the SDK pin accurately. 📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe changes update provider search failure handling and iTunes ID matching. They also revise provider request cleanup and tests, pin CI and release actions, and update local validation guidance, build targets, and Go dependencies. ChangesProvider behavior and maintenance

Priority: ➖ Normal Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~20 minutes Change: Bug fix Suggested reviewers: Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to Local validation can use the wrong SDK, and a clean build-all run can fail until dist is recreated. Both have straightforward workarounds and should be fixed before relying on those workflows. Security Architecture ReviewSecurity architecture risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to A blocked provider alongside a provider that finds nothing can now produce a successful empty search. If the blocked provider later becomes available, affected items may not be retried. The change does not show an authorization bypass, but the host’s recovery behavior needs confirmation. to set `GOWORK=off`, ensuring lint uses the SDK version pinned in `go.mod`
rather than an ancestor workspace.

- Line 19: Update the build-all target to create the dist directory before its
platform build loop, so it succeeds after clean removes that directory.

- Set GOWORK=off on the golangci-lint step and in the documented local lint command, so both use the SDK pinned in go.mod rather than a local go.work. - Say that a local golangci-lint run checks the whole repository while CI uses only-new-issues. provider/provider.go:224, Search failure rule. The comments and error text said "every source failed", but the code returnedProvidersFailedErrorwhenever any source failed and nothing matched. Just switching tolen(failures) == len(tasks)would bring back the write-off problem the block comment describes (a transient Audnexus outage next to an iTunes "no result" would become a terminalno_match). I took CodeRabbit's second option instead: a blocked failure (401/403, which cannot change on retry) no longer counts. When nothing matches, the result is an error if every source failed or any failure is retryable (timeout, rate limit, unavailable); otherwise it is a clean no-match. This stops a permanently-403 source (AudiMeta) from keeping every unmatched item in the retry loop. Comments and theError()text ("N audiobook provider(s) failed and none matched: ...", still free of status codes) now describe that. NewTestSearchNoMatchFailureRulecovers blocked+empty → no-match, unavailable+empty → error, all-blocked → error, and clean → no-match.provider/itunes.go:212, lookup identity.Fetchnow returns only the result whosecollectionIdequals the requested id. CONTRIBUTING.md:10, the issue channel. The finding is accurate, since issue creation is restricted on every Prairie repo, including prairie-server. Fixing it is a maintainer policy call (allow issue creation, or name a contact channel), so I haven't invented a route.Lint
